Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites function correctly and remember your preferences. Here is every cookie we set, what it is for and how long it stays on your device.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| cbk_cart | Chai by Kai | Remembers what is in your basket so it is still there when you come back. | Until you clear it |
| cbk_consent | Chai by Kai | Stores your cookie choice so we do not keep asking you. | Until you clear it |
| cbk_checkout_address | Chai by Kai | Remembers your delivery details so you do not retype them next order. | Until you clear it |
| __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Stripe | Fraud prevention on card payments. Only set when you reach checkout. | Up to 1 year |
| _ga, _ga_LQ4YY6PW0X | Google Analytics | Counts visits and tells us which pages are used. Only set if you accept analytics. | Up to 2 years |
| _fbp | Meta | Measures whether our Facebook and Instagram ads lead to orders. Only set if you accept marketing. | Up to 90 days |
Essential Cookies (always on)
These make the shop work and cannot be switched off: your shopping cart contents, checkout session, and security. Our payment provider Stripe may also set cookies for fraud prevention when you proceed to checkout. Your cookie choice itself is stored so we do not keep asking you.
Analytics Cookies (only with your consent)
Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd) helps us understand how people use the site: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are from, and what works. The data is aggregated and IP addresses are not stored in full. These cookies (_ga and similar) last up to 2 years. They are off until you accept them.
Marketing Cookies (only with your consent)
The Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd) lets us measure whether our Facebook and Instagram adverts lead to visits and orders, and show our adverts to people likely to be interested. The cookie (_fbp) lasts up to 90 days. Meta may use this data under its own privacy policy at facebook.com/privacy. These cookies are off until you accept them.
Your Choices
When you first visit we ask you to accept all, reject non-essential, or manage your choices. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and the site works the same either way. You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings in the footer. You can also block cookies in your browser, though the cart may then not work.
Tag Management
We use Google Tag Manager to load the analytics and marketing tools above. Tag Manager itself sets no tracking cookies, and it only loads those tools after you have given consent.
International Transfers
Google and Meta may process data outside the UK, including in the United States, under the UK International Data Transfer Agreement and the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Opting Out With Google and Meta Directly
Refusing marketing cookies here stops us collecting anything at all. You can also tell Google and Meta separately what they may do with your data across every site, not just ours:
- Google ad settings: myadcenter.google.com
- Google Analytics opt out for every site: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Meta ad settings for Facebook and Instagram: accountscenter.facebook.com/ad_preferences
- Opt out of many advertisers at once: optout.aboutads.info
- Your Online Choices, the UK tool: youronlinechoices.com/uk
Changes to This Policy
If we add or remove a tool that uses cookies we will update this page and the date at the top. If the change means we need your permission again, the cookie banner will reappear so you can make a fresh choice.
